Our Habit Makes Us

Aristotle wrote, “we are what we repeatedly do”

The only thing that separates you from the successful people you admire is their daily habits and choices. They make habits that make them more informed, knowledgeable, more competent, and better skilled.

Before now, I used to let life happen to me. It’s almost like I’m sleep-walking through life. Habits (both good and bad ones) were automatic and I did them without thinking.

Did doing that bring me any significant progress?

You guessed right.

It didn’t.

I had no idea of my WHY. I had no goals. I was comfortable living life just as it comes.

A terrible mistake!

No one gets successful by accident. Even if anyone did, they won’t stay successful for so long.

Things started to change when I started being intentional about my habits.

I paid attention to the first thing I did in the morning, focused on what I ate during the day and even more importantly how I spend money.

Little tracking here and there and it wasn’t long I realized that I’d been making the wrong choices all along. I mean, all these years of sleepwalking. I’ve been making decisions based on programmed instincts.

Realizing this, led me to other things like questioning my WHY before taking strategic actions

Even to the small choices like why I prefer a particular Toothpaste brand to the other. Am I stuck using one brand because that’s what I’ve grown up to use? Or am willing to try a different brand that’s much better even if I’m not familiar with it?

Not only does knowing your WHY gives clarity for the choices you make, but it can also fuel your passion to never give up.
